Topic 6: WWJD?

Question: In what ways is Jesus our model/example for living & in what ways is he not? (Be sure to do more research into the issue. If the group cannot come to a consensus, feel free to have different group members each express their own opinions.)

These days everyone knows what W.W.J.D stands for. For those who don’t it means “What Would Jesus Do”. W.W.J.D began to appear on bracelets in the mid-90’s, and the craze is still going strong. But should we base our lives on what Jesus would do? When a Christian, teenager, or even a young child is struggling in life they seem to ask themselves “What Would Jesus Do”. Many people believe it is not right to do because we do not live the life Jesus had. Others believe it because they are strong in there faith, and believe that Jesus has all of the answers. Also, to this day many people have no idea what W.W.J.D really means.

Jesus died on the cross for our sins. What did we as people do? Our life is nowhere near as painful as Jesus Christ. How could we possibly know what Jesus would do in any situation. Of course there is an answer as there is an answer for all things, and the answer is to be reminded about what Jesus did do for us as it says in the scriptures. All we need to do as people is live a holy and righteous life before God. The “WWJD?” movement has been pulling young children away from the bible rather than encouraging people to read the bible. Rather picking up a bible to answer a question, the child will just look at his bracelet and come up with his own decision.

For those that are strong in there faith know that looking at a bracelet is not going to solve a problem. Christians strong in there faith know where the real answers come from, and that is there bible. (1 Thess. 4:3) “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” (John 15:7) “The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making with the simple.” (Psalm 19:7) “The word of God Consistently reemphasizes its own truthfulness, guidance and efficacy. It is the determination by which all answers are principally explicitly or principally derived.” These are all passages from the bible that prove Jesus has all the answers, as long as you pick up your bible instead of looking at a bracelet.
